Abstract

The School literacy movement (GLS) is the ability of students to access, understand, and use something intelligently through various activities such as reading. And also as an effort made as a whole to Make students or students at the school motivated in the school literacy movement, especially in reading. The School literacy movement is also a school program that is used as a habituation activity to students, with that even MTs Al- kanawiah School also carries out these activities, especially in grade VII  (Seven) who lack motivation to read it. This study is to describe the School literacy movement in fostering reading motivation for grade VII (Seven) MTs Al-Kanawiah students, The method used in this study uses qualitative descriptive methods with data collection techniques using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results of research on the School literacy movement in fostering reading motivation Students in grade VII (Seven) MTs Al-Kanawiah, Using three stages in the School literacy movement (GLS), namely the habituation, development, and learning stages. The three stages have been implemented and even required a teacher in the school to carry out every day so that they can be motivated in reading, from the findings of researchers with interview techniques to students in grade VII (Seven) stated

that the School literacy movement (GLS) is very fluent and they are motivated in reading.
